Chelsea Suffer Striker Crisis Ahead Of United Clash

Chelsea have suffered a serious blow to their chances of getting a positive result at Old Trafford when they face a rejuvenated Manchester United side in the Barclays Premier League, as the London based club may have to do without star pair Diego Costa and now Loic Remy, who was taken off in the midweek game due to a groin injury, according to the Telegraph.

Remy began his Premier League career with Queens Park Rangers, and his initial spell was impressive as the striker did not take much time to settle into the fast paced gameplay. But a clause in his contract allowed the player to leave if Rangers were relegated from the top flight, and Newcastle United were quick to secure the services of the player on a season-long loan deal. Remy was Newcastle’s top goalscorer, and his spell at Tyneside reassured top clubs of his potential to star in the league. While Alan Pardew was keen on signing Remy on a permanent contract, the Frenchman opted to go back to Rangers when they regained their place in the Premier League. Chelsea then came calling as they sold off Demba Ba, and signed Remy in the recently concluded summer window.

Sunday’s fixture against United will be crucial to Chelsea’s chances of the title, as it could give Manchester City a chance to catch up if the Blues dropped points.
