Chelsea Still In Search Of Young Talent

Chelsea Still In Search Of Young Talent

Chelsea have made a habit of signing young talent for the past couple of years. Unfortunately none of them made it to the big team despite several chances. Currently the age average for players sent out on loan by the Blues is around 22-23 which underlines the fact that the club is looking to cut down costs by raising their own rather than spending the way they spent when Torres was signed for example. It`s a good path to take especially with the FIFA regulations becoming more and more strict in terms of financial balance. It’s also good when it comes to the players’ attitude towards the club. A youngster who grows up close to Chelsea’s values will respect the club’s colors more than someone who is signed from a different team.

The tricky part is in finding the proper players to invest in. The most difficult stage of the process is having them adapt to Premier League football. With the Blues being involved in all major competitions, it`s a bit hard to give time on the pitch to someone who lacks experience or who just moved to Stamford Bridge. It is always going to be difficult to keep track of the 40+ players sent out on loan once a new manager takes over. Hopefully Conte will spend more time in London thus allowing his staff to figure out who is worth keeping and who is worth selling. There were some departures this summer but there’s still room for improvement. Like with any new management, new targets emerge as well as some of the less used players will leave in the near future. With that in mind, it is safe to say that rumors regarding the transfers of Thiago Maia and Victor Lindelof are not that farfetched. The two youngsters have been on Chelsea’s radar for a while but something kept them from signing. Maybe it was the fact that the prices for young players are off the charts right now or maybe it was the fact that Conte is still looking into who will stay and who will go. Regardless, Metro think that some moves will be done as soon as this winter.  The Brazilian seems closer to Chelsea though as he would be a lot easier to sign from Santos than Lindelof is to sign from Benfica. No matter what happens,  these two should get a chance to prove themselves at Stamford Bridge.
