Chelsea starlet Ruben Loftus-Cheek has attracted attention at feeder club Vitesse Arnhem and is wanted on loan.

Vitesse’s head coach Peter Bosz has admitted he wanted to sign the midfielder on loan, but fears his influence on the first team for Chelsea at the back end of last season means the move is more difficult than he would have hoped.

Loftus-Cheek made four appearances for Chelsea in the League last season and claimed a spot in Gareth Southgate’s England U21 squad. Mourinho sees the 19-year-old as a future first team player, but he is set to bar the player from leaving on loan as he believes he is in contention for a first team spot. In March, Mourinho said: ‘Next season Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be competing for a first-team position. At the moment we are protecting him. Next season he will not be a number, he will be a player.’

Bosz admits the young midfielder was a player they wanted from Chelsea, but has accepted that his role at Chelsea means he is unlikely to join the Eredivisie side.

“Chelsea know what they do for us and they are satisfied with the development that the boys have made with ​​us.” Bosz told De Telegraaf.

“We know what we want, but it is also dependent on what happens at Chelsea. For example, we wanted to bring Ruben Loftus-Cheek here, but he is playing more at Chelsea now so a loan is impossible.”
