Chelsea Set To Move Ba?
Chelsea attacker Demba Ba could be set for a move away from Stamford Bridge, after a report in which Metro suggests the Senegalese striker could be close to an agreement with Italian giants AS Roma, after the striker joined the Londoners less than a year ago.
The Blues got off to a terrific start over the weekend, beating Hull City two goals to the good with quality to show on the pitch. Jose Mourinho kept his word and fielded a strong side, giving respect to the opposition, who played well in the second half without a goal to their name. Fernando Torres got the nod over the other strikers available, and put in a good performance, contributing well to the play of the side.
Mourinho declared earlier this week that Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney would be his prime target for the remainder of the transfer window. But it will take a strong bid by the club to convince United to let their long serving star leave. Even though United won comfortably against Swansea City at the weekend, all eyes were on Rooney as he came on as a second half substitute, and looked distracted with the speculation over his future. Even though Rooney himself put in a transfer request at the end of last season, United do not want to sell their prized asset to a Barclays Premier League rival with less than two weeks to go in the window.
Ba made his move to the Premier League from German club Hoffenheim, when West Ham United offered him a deal which was mutually beneficial for both parties. The attacker scored 7 goals in 12 appearances after completing his deal in the January transfer window. His qualities were identified by several top sides in the league, and it was Newcastle United who received his services in 2011. He was the club’s top scorer that season, with 16 goals. Ba moved to Chelsea midway through last season, and scored 2 goals in 14 appearances.
Ba’s move may take place to make room for Rooney, who would join Romelu Lukaku, Fernando Torres and Andre Schurrle in the attacking line.
