Chelsea Set To Make Last Minute Changes

With Fernando Torres now close to replacing Mario Balotelli at AC Milan for the year to come, Chelsea will be looking to bring in a third striker to have in their squad. According to Metro, Mourinho will place a bid for Roma’s Mattia Destro who is currently valued at £20million. The 23 year old has a great scoring rate and could represent a long term solution for the Blues who are very likely to part ways permanently with both Drogba and Torres at the end of the season.

Even though Mourinho insisted there are going to be no more transfers before the end of the summer, things could change. By leaving, Torres may have a final shot at jumpstarting what is left of his career. A move to Milan is definitely possible especially considering he is now viewed as Chelsea’s third choice striker. Destro on the other hand, who managed 13 goals in 14 appearances for Roma, will represent a worthy rival for Costa. The Spaniard has had a great start at Stamford Bridge but will need to maintain a high level of efficiency which can only be achieved through tough competition. Drogba is in decent shape but any injury might end his run with Chelsea which could cost the Blues trophies. Missing out on any of the titles which are on the table will represent a disaster for Chelsea who made some serious investments over the summer.
