The 24-year-old Strootman joined AS Roma last summer but has already been linked with a move away from the club. Man United have been heavily linked with the midfielder since Louis van Gaal joined United in the summer.

The former Dutch boss wants to reunite with the Netherlands international, with the two having worked together in the Dutch national side. However, United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea have entered the race for his signature.

Blues boss Jose Mourinho is an admirer of Strootman and the Express is reporting that the Special One has tabled a £30 million bid for the box-to-box midfielder. Roma would stand to make 100% profit, having bought Strootman from PSV for £15 million.

The report suggests that the Dutchman wants to try his luck in the Premier League, and a switch to England is quite a possibility so it remains to be seen if he fancies London or Manchester.
