Chelsea Set To Fight Arsenal For Sami Khedira’s Signature

German international, Sami Khedira has tried to continue his stay at Real Madrid as much as is possible. Unfortunately, there seems to be no place for the World Cup winner who is now directing his attention to the UK. After being repeatedly linked to Arsenal, it appears that Chelsea have stepped in. Even though rumors had it that Khedira was advised by Mourinho to be patient and wait one more year to come to Chelsea for free, the player’s agent is pushing for a move. According to Metro, Khedira will choose one of three teams. Bayern also joined the race after Kroos left and Martinez found out he will be out for 7 months. The German side have a slight advantage considering they already have some of Khedira’s fellow compatriots as established members of their squad. Arsenal have that too with the added bonus that Ozil is Khedira’s best friend.

Chelsea will have to use the German midfielder’s strong connection to Mourinho to their advantage. The Portuguese manager was the one who signed Khedira and who also gave him the chance to perform on a regular basis. Currently, the Blues’ boss is not certain he could offer his former player the same insurance as Chelsea have constructed a very strong and compact midfield already.

The 27 year old has 2 weeks to decide and will probably join either Arsenal or Chelsea sometime next week. With the Premier League already underway, he will have to adapt quickly which might be a problem.
