Chelsea Salute Drogba’s Return To Stamford Bridge

After becoming a free agent, Didier Drogba signed a one year deal with the Blues who are back to having three strikers after Demba Ba left on loan. The 36 year old Ivorian who left Galatasaray at the end of the season, will get the chance to improve his impressive goal scoring record which has placed him third in an all-time best Chelsea goal scorer list. With 341 appearances and a goal-scoring rate of one goal every two matches, Drogba is definitely welcome at Stamford Bridge.

The most important factor that made Drogba decide to return to Stamford Bridge was Mourinho. The Portuguese boss who worked with the Ivorian striker during his first Chelsea mandate has developed a special relationship with the 36 year old who still has something to offer according to Metro. Rumors have it that, Drogba’s arrival is also a way to integrate him into the club’s staff which will incorporate him well after his contract reaches the 1 year deadline.

Mourinho insisted that performance is the first criteria used to sign Drogba. He is still one of the best strikers in Europe and Chelsea need a striker to substitute for Costa.
