Chelsea have turned their attention towards German International Mats Hummels who finally seems like he could be prepared keen to leave Dortmund at the end of the season. The 26 year old has a lot to look forward to as he is one of the most sought after players in the world. Seen by most as the best defender in activity, Hummels has been linked to series of big clubs that are willing to pay the £30m requested by Borussia. The only thing that remains to be determined is which destination is more appealing for the World Cup winner.

According to Metro, West London might have become the first choice for the center back who up until recently was characterized as Manchester United’s big summer transfer. Mourinho’s persuasive abilities and the strong project built at Stamford Bridge shifted the defender’s attention towards Chelsea. Even though the Blues were thought to have made Varane their number one target, priorities have changed. The French youngster, despite being one of the biggest talents out there, will be hard to sign. He is under contract with Real Madrid for the next 5 years and will not be let go that easy. Hummels has the upper hand on the 21 year old given his experience. The extra money which would be necessary for the German’s transfer to go through might just be worth it considering the fact that he is more than sure to thrive under pressure which is not something one might say regarding Varane. Hopefully The Blues will land at least one of the two defenders at the beginning of the transfer period as having Hummels to step in to back up JT or having JT and Kurt Zouma to back up Hummels and Gary Cahill would be a pretty awesome defensive set of options in the centre of the defense.
