Chelsea look ready to materialize their plan to bring in Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos. The Spaniard who was always one of Mourinho’s favorites, is probably going to receive a massive offer from the Blues who have been testing the ground for almost a year now. According to Metro, contact has been made and the Spaniard is going to be given the option of leaving Madrid. With a contract set to expire in 2017, he could be the subject of one of the most intriguing moves of the year. Real are known for having little respect for their star players especially after they reach a certain age. No big player has ended his professional career at Santiago Bernabeu if you consider the club’s recent history sheets. Ramos could follow in the footsteps of players like Roberto Carlos or Raul who moved away without being offered the option of finishing their brilliant runs on the pitch where they played the most.

Ramos is now valued at about £35million which seems about right. Chelsea definitely have the money to spend and could make an offer for the brilliant defender. The only issue is that he is about the same age as Cahill and Ivanovic who are both in great form. Funds could be spent better or could be invested in the club’s long term future. Chelsea are not the only ones interested in Ramos. Arsenal and Liverpool could also make an offer for the Spaniard if Real announces they are ready to sell.
