Chelsea have begun their chase for Barcelona’s 11-year old prodigy Xavier Simmons, after the youngster has been developing a reputation as a future star at the world famous La Masia youth academy run by the Catalan club, according to the Express.

The Blues owner Roman Abramovich has left no stone unturned to ensure progress on players of all age groups at the club. The club have deployed several scouts all over Europe that are meant to unearth the biggest talents in the sport in different positions on the pitch. Players like Eden Hazard were always on the radar of the biggest clubs including Chelsea, but the club is notified of several players every year who could make it to the big time.

The La Masia youth academy is renowned for its methods of developing talent at a young age, and has been successful in developing players like Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi and Xavi. The academy is one of the best facilities to succeed at, and has also been prominent for keeping hold of its talent, unlike several academies that are famous for developing players but cannot retain them.

Chelsea have reportedly made an offer for young Simmons, who hails from the Netherlands. As is part of bringing a child to a club, Chelsea have offered the player’s family the option to move to West London to encourage a transfer for the talented youngster.
