Chelsea Overcome PSG On Penalties

Chelsea recorded a shoot-out win against PSG last night in a game which finished 1-1. The Blues had their first glimpse of new signing Radamel Falcao, who made his Chelsea debut.

The game finished 1-1 in normal time, before Mourinho’s side won 6-5 on penalties.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic put PSG ahead, but the goal was cancelled out by Victor Moses who leveled the scoring courtesy of a Cesc Fabregas pass.

Falcao entered the game on the 70th minute mark, and eventually went on to score from the spot in the shoot-out.

Juan Cuadrado missed his spot-kick, but was saved from embarrassment by Thibaut Courtois, who saved penalties from Jean-Christophe Bahebeck and Thiago Silva before scoring the winner himself.

The game was a fairly even encounter, as the stats indicate. The Premier League champions went behind when John Obi Mikel lost possession only for Ibrahimovic to calmly finish off Augustin’s effort that had hit the post.

Diego Costa, who was replaced by Falcao, had a shot tipped on to the woodwork before PSG’s Lucas Moura was twice denied by first-half goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The Bosnian had a much better game this time around following his nightmare of a debut against New York Red Bulls.

Chelsea equalised in the second half through Victor Moses, and eventually went on to win the game against the French champions.
