Chelsea Mourning Lord Attenborough’s Death

This past Sunday was been a sad day for everyone connected with Chelsea Football Club, as it marked the passing of the club’s Life President Lord Richard Attenborough, and the club will mark the death by wearing black armbands in their Premier League fixture against Everton, according to the Daily Mail.

Lord Attenborough was an actor, film director, film producer and an entrepreneur. The 90-year old had been a lifelong Chelsea fan, and was connected with the club for a considerable period of his life. Attenborough served as the director of the club between 1969 and 1982, and the position of the Life Vice President between 1993 and 2008. Later that year, he was presented with the honor of being the Life President at Stamford Bridge.

Although Saturday will mark a sad day of remembrance, the attention will later shift to the matters on the pitch, as Chelsea will face a stern challenge against the side managed by Roberto Martinez. The Toffees took on Arsenal this past weekend, and sure gave last year’s title challengers a tough time, earning a well-deserved draw. Jose Mourinho has finished his set of transfer buys, but the departures could continue as the transfer market shuts early next week. The club could lose the likes of Petr Cech and Fernando Torres, after the duo lost their place in the starting lineup due to the arrival of Thibaut Courtois and Diego Costa respectively.
