Chelsea Looking To Move On Third Atletico Player

Despite announcing that Chelsea will no longer be buying players, it seems that Mourinho will make one last move before the 1st of August. According to the Daily Star, Atletico’s Joao Miranda could join former teammates, Diego Costa and Filipe Luis who have been transferred to Stamford Bridge this summer. After months of tough negotiations for the two players, a £20million bid for the 29 year old might do the trick as far as the Miranda deal goes.

There is still much doubt over this possible deal. On one hand, Miranda did tell his club he is no longer interested in staying but on the other hand Chelsea might not be willing to pay that much for a center back who is a couple of months away from being 30. The Blues seem determined to sign Europe’s best and most talented players. The Brazilian might be too late to catch the train to West London where Mourinho is looking to build a group which will grow together.

Miranda has a £24m valuation but it is hard to believe Chelsea will go that high to sign the Brazilian even if a potential £20million bid is being reported. With Varane looking quite willing to leave Real, there is little doubt Mourinho will prefer the signing of the French youngster.

Despite being one of the best central defenders in last year’s season, Miranda has yet to show he can maintain a high competitive level for more than a year which is exactly what Chelsea are looking for so it seems like a long-shot that he will join his former team-mates in West London.
