Chelsea Looking To Add Star Striker?

A fresh rumor has made the news these days. Apparently, Mauro Icardi is no longer wanted in Milano after the Argentine striker made some strange claims in his autobiography regarding Inter’s “Ultras”. The fans no longer want their former captain who has already had a fallout with the club prior to him signing a contract extension. While Icardi is a bad-boy, he has loads of talent, talent which could be put to use at Stamford Bridge. Apparently, Chelsea have pointed their attention towards Serie A and hope to convince the 23-year-old to move to London despite being under contract until 2021. Italian ultras are not to be messed with and regardless of how many goals the striker manages to score this season, there seems to be no turning back.

Icardi has scored twice and provided 2 assists in his 10 games this season. He is in decent form and shows a lot of class and efficiency which says a lot given the fact that he plays in one of the toughest competitions in Europe. Italians are known for their well-organized defense and incredible ability to block any kind of attack so the fact that Icardi has a good scoring record can only be a positive sign. While bringing in a player who just signed an extension in October might sound impossible, there is something that could help Chelsea succeed. Batshuayi’s lack of time on the pitch is not making anyone happy. Neither the player or the club seem to have got what they expected at this point so there is a chance the Belgium international will be sent on loan or less likely sold. It would not be the first time a player does not adapt to the Premier League. Just take a look at Cuadrado who is incredible in Serie A, but fails to deliver in the PL.

Batshuayi could bring down Icardi’s price considerably if Inter do agree to such a swap. And even if the price does not go down, at least the idea of replacing their captain with someone just as talented might sound tempting in the given circumstances. According to TalkSport, Arsenal and one other Premier League club have shown interest in Icardi as well. It`s hard to believe anyone could top Chelsea’s offer especially if it includes Batshuayi but it does seem more plausible that the Belgian striker will be kept and given a chance to acclimatise to Stamford Bridge life no matter what happens with Icardi.
