Chelsea Linked With Two Bundesliga Star Defenders

When looking at Conte’s squad there’s not much that needs fixing. Sure, after the departures of Obi Mikel and Oscar, Chelsea might need a reinforcement or two but given Chelsea’s current layout, there’s no actual pressure to sign a new midfielder. There may be a case to add some defensive depth as Moses and Alonso are being used heavily and with an injury to either there might be a need for more back-up options.

According to Metro, there are two more possible options Chelsea might want to take a good hard look at and possibly make a move on as soon as possible. First there’s one Bosnian international Sead Kolasinac. The 23-year-old has yet to extend his contract with Schalke, a contract which will expire in June. He is very similar to Azpilicueta and just as versatile, being able to play in the middle of the defence as well not just on the left. This very interesting player had to go through a cruciate ligament surgery back in February 2015 but he is back playing regularly without any lasting effects and Liverpool and Arsenal are also sniffing around the Bosnian international so Chelsea may need to work quickly if they want to secure their man.

The second name reported on is that of German international Jonas Hector.  He would arguably be the better choice out of the two but also the more difficult transfer to get over the line. Hector just signed an extension with FC Koln but that doesn’t mean he is not for sale. The Club’s management admitted that they will talk to any club that shows interest in the 26-year-old who has the ability to be playing at many of the top European clubs. Maybe the idea of playing in next year’s Champions League will convince him to push for a move away from the Bundesliga.
