Chelsea will be chasing after PSG’s Marquinhos who might join Raphael Varane at Stamford Bridge at the end of this season. The 20 year old defender who was rumored to leave even since last year, is apparently on Mourinho’s list. According to Metro, the Blues have a massive £40million offer lined up which is a lot for someone this young. Roma’s former defender who is under contract with the French side until 2018 seems unhappy with his choice to leave Serie A and would like to join the Premier League. Even though he was strongly linked to a transfer to Manchester United, it looks like things have changed.

What is ironic is that Marquinhos is being kept on the bench by former Chelsea man, David Luiz who has been brought in by PSG as a first option for the center of the defense. The 20 year old Brazil international will have to find a way to prove he is worth the money especially with Mourinho thinking of spending £70million on Juventus wonder kid Paul Pogba.

The Blues are looking for a player to grow next to Zouma who is already seen as next in line to take command from Terry. Hopefully it is not just a strategy to destabilize things for PSG before the second leg of the Champions League. Marquinhos looks very promising and could successfully replace Terry or Ivanovic in the middle of the defense.
