Chelsea Linked To Former Player Of Antonio Conte

During the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 the rumour which was talked about the most or at least as much as any other rumour was for Chilean midfield hard man Arturo Vidal to join Manchester United. United were in desperate need of bolstering their impotent midfield and the Chilean player seemed to be the man to provide the steel that United needed.

With new boss Louis van Gaal taking over at Old Trafford Vidal seemed like a logical choice as he had all the credentials needed to play in the Premier League plus van Gaal speaks Spanish so the deal looked like a certainty. However despite the constant speculation, Vidal decided to stay and play for Antonio Conte at Juventus and a move to the Premier League seemed dead in the water.

Vidal started his career in Europe playing for Bayer Leverkusen where he enjoyed 4 very successful seasons before joining Conte at Juventus where he spent 4 very successful seasons as well – 3 of which he played under Antonio Conte. He won the Serie A in 4 consecutive seasons, 3 under Antonio Conte and the last one under Massimiliano Allegri after Conte left to manage Italy.

Despite overtures from many top European clubs in the summer of 2015, Vidal chose to return to Germany when he signed for Bayern Munich on a four-year deal for a fee of €37 million and of course went on to win the Bundesliga under Pep Guardiola.

Now it seems at the age of 29 years old Arturo Vidal may be ready to take on the Premier League if reports in Spanish outlet Don Balon are to be believed. As ESPNFC are reporting Vidal fancies a move to Chelsea to reunite with his former Juventus boss and at a fee of £42million that Bayern Munich are said to want, Chelsea are well able to finance such a move. The transfer makes sense as Conte knows Vidal well and he would provide quite a midfield when played alongside Nemanja Matic and N’Golo Kante as the Chilean likes to get forward and can score goals.

Interesting to see if Arturo Vidal really wants to conquer England as he has done so well in Germany and Italy and there could not be a better place to do it than with his former boss at Chelsea.
