Chelsea Legend Surprises With Henry Role-Model Comments But Remains True Blue

One of Chelsea’s most prolific strikers recently admitted that he developed his playing style by learning from Arsenal captain Thierry Henry. Even though the two are the same age, Didier Drogba had no shame in stating that he always tried emulating the Frenchman’s way of behaving both on and off the pitch. According to Metro, the Ivorian who is now third in line to start for the Blues, was awarded the 2015 Football Writers’ Association Tribute on Sunday and was quite proud to mention the people who inspired him even if they were part of teams other than Chelsea.

Drogba who is now 36 also mentioned the fact that his winning attitude and his take on football are mostly embedded in his character but are also the result of having someone like Henry to look up to. Chelsea’s striker praised the Frenchman who was also mentioned in the gala. Even though the Ivorian has failed to quite keep up with the amazing efficiency that Henry delivered over the years, he still left a serious mark on the Premier League. He is Chelsea’s record holder for most goals managed in a single season and he holds 4 more records which now may be endangered by Diego Costa who is on fire. The Spanish international has impressed and managed to make fans think that Drogba and Remy are only back-up options although they both proved in the Man City game that they are both very much still strong options to Chelsea and Jose Mourinho who would have been lost without the both of them yesterday and particularly so in Remy’s case who scored Chelsea’s only goal but also with Drogba throwing himself about for the last 15mins winning corners and free-kicks in a late Blues flurry. And so, rumors have it that the Ivorian will stay within the club after his contract reaches an end and surely with all his experience and love for the club it would be foolish not to use his wisdom to help and promote the Chelsea FC club and reputation to academy players, squad members and the World at large.
