Chelsea In For Defender

Chelsea In For Defender

Chelsea are reportedly in the process of making a £7 million bid for German centre back, Antonio Rudiger.

The defender, who plays for German side Stuttgart,  is said to have played his last game for the club amid reports that a number of clubs are interested in the player, and his departure is inevitable.

The German defender has impressed since he he began to play regularly for Stuttgart, and it is no surprise that a host of clubs want the youngsters signature. Chelsea have reportedly been eyeing the player for some time, along with the likes of Manchester United, West Ham, FC Porto and AS Monaco. However it is unclear which side the 22-year-old would favour.

Benjamin Ippoliti, the player’s agent, had this to say on the matter: “Many clubs have approached us to learn more about Antonio, including , West Ham and several British teams.”

“The player has a contract with Stuttgart until 2017, so any interested club will first have to speak with the club and only after that will we begin to evaluate our opportunities.”

The defender is definitely a star in the making, he looks to have all the qualities required to succeed at the highest level. His price is also a very reasonable and affordable factor, at just £7-10 million being quoted. It is reported that Rudiger has a ‘big club release clause’ in his contract, which allows him to join a ‘big club’ for a reduced fee.

It is unclear how involved Chelsea are with Rudiger, but the German is almost certain to leave his club, and at such a small fee it would be a no-brainer to get the deal done.
