Chelsea have secured the services of 28 year old Asmir Begovic who will be taking on the number 1 shirt left vacant by Cech’s departure.

The 28 year old Bosnia-Herzegovina international who has played 173 games for Stoke has said goodbye to Britannia Stadium where he spent the last 5 years. According to BBC the two clubs agreed to a £8million transfer fee which is a fair price for Begovic who was also rumored to be targeted by Manchester United. Even though the keeper will be coming to the Emirates as second fiddle, he is at peace with that situation. In his goodbye message addressed to Stoke fans he mentioned that joining Chelsea is a step up and also a new challenge. Chelsea are now settled in terms of goalkeepers, and have even managed to make a profit after selling Cech to Arsenal and signing Begovic from Stoke. The 28 year old will try and compete with Courtois for a spot in the first eleven but it is very unlikely he will manage to take the Belgian’s place.
