Chelsea Favourite Son Looks To Be Returning Home

So as things are being reported right now Chelsea are working hard to close the deal to bring back club favourite David Luiz from Paris-Saint- Germain. The Brazilian centre-back was bought by Chelsea from Benfica for a fee of £25 million and the player became some what a cult hero in West London. However after he lost the World Cup with his country, getting knocked out by 7 goals in the debacle in the World Cup semi-final Luiz was sold to PSG for a huge fee of £50million and he joined compatriot Marquinhos in the centre of the PSG defence helping to lead them to numerous trophies.

As Chelsea have had trouble landing their targets they seem to have shifted their attention to a man they know and a player who feels he has unfinished business with the Blues – which sounds good meaning that he wants to be a Blue again.

Also reports are suggesting that the deal to sign Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina on a five-year contract in a deal reportedly to be in the £23 million range is virtually completed. Alonso is a left back which frees up Azpilicueta to play in his favoured right back position and Alonso has experience in the Premier League having played for Bolton Wanderers several years ago under Sam Allardyce.

So it looks like it could end up being a great day for the Blues when things had looked grim for a while in this window. Fairplay to Antonio Conte on the pursuit and subsequent signings of Luiz and Alonso. Having the versatility of Luiz again will give us great options and depth and Alonso allows us lots of options in the left and right back spots – what two excellent bits of business by Antonio Conte who just seems to impress more and more as time goes by.
