Chelsea Eyeing Messi Amidst Barca Rift

Chelsea are trying to grab the opportunity by the scruff of the neck and offer Lionel Messi a lucrative six-year contract at the London based club, after the Barcelona superstar was rumoured to have missed training with the team due to a rift with current manager Luis Enrique, according to the Daily Star.

The Blues are always on the lookout to improve the quality of their squad, and they can afford almost any transfer fees in the world due to their financial prowess and financial progression. After selling David Luiz for £50 million to Paris Saint Germain, and Juan Mata for a heavy sum to Manchester United, Chelsea have the funds available in their reserves. Diego Costa has entered the club and taken the Barclays Premier League by storm with his blistering form over the first six months.

Messi joined Barcelona at a very early age in the club’s famous La Masia academy, and was immediately touted as the next big thing in football. Barcelona were very supportive of the player during his issues with biological growth as a young boy, and have treated him with utmost respect. Messi has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou, but the player has never considered leaving the club that gave him his career debut for a considerable period. But now with the striker unhappy with coach Enrique, the recent firing of the Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta (Enrique’s biggest ally at the club) and then former captain Carles Puyol, Zubizarreta’s assistant has quit leaving Enrique without his immediate support base laving the club in turmoil. President Bartomeu has fallen out with manager Enrique and even more crazily Lionel Messi and is seeking early re-elections in order to cement his position at the club and build fences with most importantly Messi but also the manager and run a second period in charge in a totally different way, should he get the chance to run the club again.

Outside of Barca, only Real Madrid (who have no chance of signing him as it is one club I do not think he will go), Manchester United, Manchester City and naturally Chelsea and possibly AC Milan and Inter Milan have any kind of a chance to meet the finances required to sign the Argentinian superstar but the Blues look like the best positioned given all the other factors involved.
