At the fourteenth time of asking, Arsene Wenger has finally beaten Jose Mourinho in a game that will surely go down as a huge victory for the Gunners. Although the match is technically only a friendly, when there’s silverware involved such a term can hardly be used lightly.

Chelsea will feel slightly hard done by with the loss, after they had several chances to draw level following Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s 24th minute opener – a goal which eventually turned out to be the winner.

The Blues went into the game knowing Arsenal were a big threat, and the Gunners hardly disappointed when they came flying out from kick off.

Chelsea came close via Ramires’ attempted header whilst unmarked, but the Brazilian failed to hit the target altogether.

Eden Hazard also saw an effort fly skywards, before Oscar’s free-kick was saved in emphatic style by Arsenal’s Petr Cech, formally of Chelsea.

Overall, Chelsea looked far from their best and will be disappointed they didn’t capitalise on the chances they had, which would’ve surely kicked them into life.
