Chelsea Continuing To Target One Year Wonders

Chelsea have apparently made a habit out of having an experienced striker as an attacking option. After Eto’o and Drogba, it is Adebayor’s turn to make his way to West London where Mourinho is expected to offer him a 1 year deal. According to the Daily Express, Tottenham’s player has had a fallout with the Spurs and will leave in June when his contract expires. Despite being just 31, Adebayor will surely be part of a 12 month agreement considering Chelsea’s policy regarding players over 30. It would be an easy transition for the Togo international who has already worked with Mourinho while the Portuguese boss was managing Real Madrid.

Adebayor has all the experience in the world especially when it comes to the Premier League. Since moving from Monaco to Arsenal back in 2006 he only spent 6 months outside of the UK playing for Real. Aside from that he performed for City and Spurs managing to total over 250 appearances for English clubs. Now Adebayor will be out of contract in June and just as Eto’o and Drogba, will join Stamford Bridge free of charge. The only issue with his transfer might be the fact that he is still pretty young. Unlike the other two strikers, he could easily find a long term engagement that will offer him the certainty of knowing where to play for the next years. Agreeing to play for Chelsea would only offer him the certainty of the next 12 months which is not something a player of his age generally looks for.
