Chelsea recorded a 2-2 draw at FedEx Field, home of Washington Redskins, in front of more than 78,000 fans in their final game of the tour. The Blues took the game to penalties and overcame Barcelona 4-2 from the spot.

Barcelona started the game with a weakened side following the Copa America, which prevented their South American stars from taking part. Chelsea on the other hand, had an almost full strength team.

Chelsea took the lead early on through Eden Hazard, but soon saw themselves 1-2 down through second half goals from Suarez and Sandro. Gary Cahill saved the game for Chelsea late on, to ensure the match would go to penalties.

So the game went to a penalty shoot-out. Radamel Falcao, Victor Moses, Ramires and Loic Remy all found the net for the Blues, giving them a huge boost ahead of Sunday’s date with Arsenal in the Community Shield.

Thibaut Courtois was given man of the match for his performance, the Belgian saved Gerard Pique’s penalty and made a flurry of saves throughout the game which certainly helped hand Chelsea their victory.

One final piece of news for Chelsea fans during this game was the debut given to 19-year-old Brazilian Kenedy, who has still not signed from Fluminense, but was allowed to play by his club.

The youngster impressed with his Brazilian-like play; tackling strong, tracking back well and extremely quick getting forward. Should Chelsea sign the Brazilian, he looks like a player that is certain to raise eyebrows in the years to come.

So it’s goodbye USA and hello Wembley, as Chelsea prepare to face Arsenal.
