Cavani To Replace Drogba At The End Of The Season

Chelsea are close to signing one of the best strikers in the world. PSG’s Edinson Cavani could move to Stamford Bridge sometime next year. The 27 year old Uruguayan seems to have trouble showcasing his full potential mostly because he is constantly played out of position. With Ibrahimovic probably in the best form of his life, Cavani finds himself playing as a winger or as a second striker which is nowhere near as fitting for his playing style as the number 9 position is. According to TalkSport, not being able to perform where he feels most comfortable, has turned Cavani into an average forward for which PSG fans do not have much appreciation.

The Uruguayan was linked to several Premier League teams during the summer but chose to stay with PSG. Unfortunately for him, things did not turn out as he hoped. Even more so, things went downhill as most fans consider him as being overpriced.

Cavani’s current situation represents a great opportunity for Chelsea who will have to part ways with Drogba at the end of the season. Even though Remy is a great substitute for Costa, Mourinho will probably be thinking about signing the Uruguayan in order to provide tough competition among strikers. Hopefully the 27 year old’s price will go down though. It seems close to impossible to imagine that the Blues will pay more than they paid for Costa in order to bring in Cavani despite all of the qualities he showcased while playing for Napoli.
