Batshuayi Impressed By Chelsea’s Desire

Michy Batshuayi has said he is struck by Chelsea’s desire to achieve success after joining up with the team this week.

The Belgium forward completed a £33.2m move to Chelsea from Marseille during Euro 2016, signing a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge. He began training with the team this week and says he is left impressed by the London club’s desire to achieve success.

Chelsea have established themselves as one of the biggest clubs in the world over the last 10 years, winning almost all there is to win during that time. Despite the club finishing 10th last season, the Blues know a push for the Premier League title this season is the only acceptable finish this time around.

Batshuayi is expected to help lead Chelsea towards the title once again, and has expressed his surprise at the Blues’ sheer determination to succeed.

“Just being at the training ground for one day I can see it’s very big and you feel you’ve joined a club that really want to win. Everything is new and that is exciting,” he told Chelsea magazine.

The 22-year-old is excited at the prospect of playing under new Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte and says he has fulfilled a “childhood dream” by moving to the club.

“It’s a magnificent feeling. It feels fantastic to be here, it’s a childhood dream for me so I’m very happy.”

“It’s a great opportunity. Conte is a manager who works very hard and likes people to work hard for him as well. I am very pleased to come and play for him here at Chelsea.”
