Another 5 Strikers Who Could Join Chelsea In January

It will be very difficult for Chelsea to sign a top end striker during the winter transfer window when market availablity is mediocre at best. Contracts are being negotiated, decisions are not made yet and most players are waiting for the summer to make a move. To be fair, it is a lot more difficult to move mid-season without any previous contact with your new team-mates. Adapting is hard even with a few weeks of summer training so you can just imagine how complicated it would be for a player from Spain or Italy to come to the Premier League in the winter. Despite all of that, Chelsea could push for an early move so as to avoid ending this season in poor shape. The funding is as usual very generous meaning that all that is likely left is to convince players to change sides. Here are another 5 players who Chelsea might consider bringing in:

  1. Paco Alcacer – This 22-year-old center-forward has a lot to offer. Currently with Valencia, the Spaniard has scored 5 goals and provided 2 assists this season. He is also one of Spain’s most efficient strikers. Since 2014 when he made his debut for his country he has already scored 6 goals in 10 matches. The biggest problem will be his contract which has been extended until 2020.
  2. Orji Okwonkwo – This is the most farfetched solution given the lack of notoriety when it comes to this youngster. Metro think Chelsea have an eye on the 17-year-old Nigerian who is also being followed by Villa. He could be an extreme solution in case all other options fail. This includes trying to bring back players who are out on loan.
  3. Kevin Volland – With 5 goals and 2 assists this season, the German has made an impression in the Bundesliga. Currently with Hoffenheim, he is expected to leave Germany before his deal expires in 2019. He would be a type of striker Chelsea have not had in a while. He is somewhat similar to Aguero.
  4. Aleksandar Mitrovic – The Serbian striker was on Chelsea’s list during the summer but he ended up at Newcastle. Even though he has less goals than Costa this season, he could still be a good replacement for Falcao. The issue is that he just signed with Newcastle and other than a very generous offer, there is nothing to point to his departure.
  5. Gonzalo Higuain – Last but not least we have Higuain. This 27-year-old deserves a chance to showcase his abilities in the Premier League. Currently playing for Napoli, Higuain has scored 11 goals in 15 games which is almost as many goals as Chelsea’s entire team. He is under contract until 2018 but has been linked to a move to the UK since he set foot on San Paolo Stadium.

Regardless of who comes, they are very likely to improve Chelsea’s attack which is desperate for someone to help and start scoring.
