5 Players Who Could Replace Falcao In 2016

The Blues cannot find their form with both the defense and the offense suffering dearly even during the most winnable of matches. The biggest disappointment though is up front as Chelsea’s £100m attack has only found the net 6 times in around 20 games. Mourinho’s main man, Diego Costa has only scored 3 goals this season and has stood out more through his strange behavior than through the way he plays the game. The other star who should have contributed to Chelsea’s success this season is Radamel Falcao. The Colombian has not found his form in order to redeem himself and prove he is good enough for the Premier League. Rumors have it that he will end his loan spell early in January which means a replacement is expected. Here is a list of 5 players who could take his place as soon as January 2016:

  1. Dominic Solanke – this 18 –year-old is currently on loan with Vitesse where he managed to score 4 times in 11 appearances. He could definitely be a solution for Chelsea at least for the last part of the season. His current deal is set to end in June 2016 but the two sides could reach an agreement.
  2. Patrick Bamford – England’s golden boy who is now with Crystal Palace has insisted he is ready to make the step to Chelsea’s first team. Maybe giving him a chance would bring some freshness to Chelsea’s attack.
  3. Charlie Austin – The 26-year-old striker currently playing for QPR has scored a goal every 180 minutes and impressed last year managing 18 goals and 7 assists in last year’s Premier League. Austin is out of contract in June 2016 and will definitely look to move.
  4. Saido Berahino – West Brom’s striker who will be out of contract in 2017 wanted to leave his current club back in August but just missed signing a deal with Tottenham. His desire to join a bigger club could surely translate into a real determination to leave if Chelsea come knocking on Tony Pulis’ door.
  5. Chicharito – The Mexican who was exiled by Real has managed to score an impressive 10 goals in 17 matches for Leverkusen who signed him for the next 3 years. The transfer fee was at around £8m but they could surely make a profit right now. He is acquainted with the Premier League since playing for Manchester United and could be useful in front of goal.

It remains to be seen what Chelsea will do but it does appear most likely that there will be some transfer activity in the upcoming window.
